We all make mistakes. They are a part of our lives. But holding onto the feelings of regret, remorse, and internal conflict all hinder our growth and sabotage the learning process that inevitably follows every error. In this article, Jason Webb, Milwaukee-based pastor, and public speaker comments on forgiveness and why you should let your remorse go.

Knowledge is Power

It is said in Proverbs 24:16, “For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.”

This is incredibly true. The ability to get back on your feet and begin trying again while learning from your mistakes is such an incredible tool to have. There are multiple interpretations of this verse, but it works beautifully as a reminder that God has strengthened you and created you in his image. He wants you to get back up and keep trying and has made you strong enough to do so.

You Are Imperfect

We were all perfectly imperfect and it’s okay. Humans make mistakes, sometimes more than once. What matters is how you respond to the situation that follows the initial errors.

It is said in Psalms 145:14, “The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.”

God is here to catch you as you fall and guide you right back onto your path. Even if you think you are totally lost, God always knows where you stand and can realign you if you are asking for help.

A Wake-Up Call

Sometimes, the decisions we make are used to provide a wakeup call. Humans are notoriously stubborn and prone to being rather non-compliant. This means that sometimes they need an extra push to get them moving in the right direction.

By giving tough decisions and offering safe roads to betterment that still carry the burden of learning and acquiring new knowledge, God has given us the power to completely turn our lives around and create a better base life for ourselves through Him and His Word. It is just a matter of accepting the burden and beginning to grow as a person through Christ’s message.

Clear Thoughts

Sometimes, mistakes happen because we are not thinking rationally. This is frequent and impacts most people at one time or another.

The issue with dwelling in these negative thoughts about your errors is that it clouds your judgment. You cannot do better if you have not healed and learned from the initial mistake.

Forgiving yourself and clearing your thoughts puts you back on the right path and allows you to begin your journey towards creating a better, healthier you on a spiritual level! Jason Webb, the pastor to over 6,000 regular attendees, believes that as long as you continue to put in the effort, you have a chance of bettering yourself and becoming closer to God over time.
